Joshua Primmer is a maker of utilitarian ceramics and multimedia sculpture that are as much about form, function, process, and material as they are about peaceful monumentality. He has shown his work across the United States and in Canada. Primmer obtained his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2016 and his BFA from Maine College of Art in 2001. In his own work, Primmer creates mixed media sculpture and functional ceramics which are heavily informed by form, function, material, process, and urban spelunking. He joined Bennington College as a Technical Instructor in Ceramics in Fall 2018. Prior to his current position, he was the studio manager at Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY and an adjunct faculty at RISD.
